Meet Our Grantees

Since our inception, Emergent Fund has moved more than $11.7 Million in no-strings-attached dollars to movement organizers and frontline communities.

Movements have long relied on creative collective responses to crises as strategic opportunities for visionary organizing. Rapid response funding as one essential power-building tool in the long arc of social transformation that works hand-in-hand with capacity building.

People-powered movements require both sparks and sustained sustenance. Building power on uncertain, often hostile terrain requires nimble, adaptive tools and strategies. Emergent Fund is a home for visionary, intersectional work aimed at transformative collaborations, systemic change, and new solutions. Our work is much more than reactionary. It is world-building. We invest in emergent movement strategy, not emergencies. Our rapid response funding acts as both a safety net and incubator for grantee innovations and life-affirming organizing experiments including political art, direct actions, alternative structures. We’re one of the few open, accessible, no-strings-attached rapid response funds powered by a deep trust of organizers and unwavering commitment to collective liberation. Many of our grantees are organizers who struggle to access mainstream philanthropy because of who they are and the high-risk, power-challenging work that they take on.
